There was somebody there...far enough behind me to not be noticed, but close enough to cause an uneasy feeling in the back of my mind. Tall, dark, and somewhat handsome... sound like the typical Prince Charming?
Well get that thought out of your mind, you stereotypical one!
It was a bright, sunny and warm afternoon. The P.C.H.E. moms were having a home school meeting at a group of picnic tables under the nice big shade trees, the kids were running and laughing on the playground, and the teens were hanging out talking random subjects as we usually do. It was all so... normal. Mostly. I left the group- it was only going to be for a minute- to ask my mom something, although now I don't recall what it was. Irrelevant, I suppose. As I walked over there I was aware of faint shuffling footsteps behind me. No big deal, I thought. It's probably just one of my friends. I got to the picnic tables and turned around, freezing as I gagged on unsaid words. A tall man, probably in his mid-twenties, was behind me. Black hair, black goatee, and a black jacket worn with jeans. The sort of person who you think of as being the uberly cool lead singer of your favorite rock band. But this was not a man you would run to for autographs, I gathered in an instant. He pulled a gun and threatened to fire. I'm not sure what he was after, but it was most definitely turning into a hostage situation quickly. I wasn't sure what to do, and I was freaking out... I asked Mrs.DeGode to come with me and as the man demanded to where we were going, I told him I had to use the bathroom. An odd excuse, but for some bizzare reason, it was accepted. A little strange that the man would agree to such a request of his hostages, but so long as we promised to come back, he said it was okay.
I would ordinarily keep my promises, and I'm sure you know this... but was I about to keep a promise to return to a hostage situation where I could possibly be shot? Nuh uh. As soon as we were out of eyeshot, Mrs.Degode and I ran. We didn't stop until we found a building along the sidewalk with a revolving door, which we quickly darted into. Once inside, as we said, we did stop and use the bathroom... and then immediately duck into the secret area behind it. I knew it was there because this wasn't the first time this had happened to me. It was then as a sudden sense of dejavu washed over me that I realized that I was the one this man wanted.
Now what happened between getting to the secret room and when I returned back to my house with fear raging in my heart, I'm not completely sure. It's all pretty blurred now, despite how recent it happened. Either way, as I sat in my room, pretty much in a state of parinoia, I made preparations to escape incase the man came back for me. I had a disguise all put together and took the screen out of my side window so that if I must, I could crawl out onto the roof and jump off the low part in the back yard and make a run for it. The sun was now setting, and as I listened to my parents discussing what to do about my current situation, I heard a van pull up in my driveway. I nearly peeked out my window, but realized I'd left the blinds open and they'd see me. I thought about putting the blinds down, but decided against that as well because they'd know somebody was there. So I raced to the room next to mine and looked out my brother's closed blinds. Out of the van climbed a man and a woman, who looked like they were probably in their sixties. None of us knew them. The only thought that pulsed through my mind was "They must be with HIM!"
I was then grateful that I had made preparations for my escape. I climbed out my bedroom window out into the night.
Again, I must say to you, I have some of the wildest dreams sometimes. I do so wonder why I keep dreaming of running away from this dark, deep-voiced kidnapper. Creepy.

The 10 minute post
Well, I'm nearing the end of my half-hour break time from school and have exactly 10 minutes more 'till I gotta head off back to the school work. Meaning I need to finish my science lesson, do a history quiz, finish reading the last little paragraph from the history book, and if there's time, practice guitar a little before lunch.
For "forced reading" as I sometimes call it, mom has assigned me the book by Brett & Alex Harris titled "Do Hard Things". It's actually really good! I always like it when my "forced reading" turns out to be really cool. It's a rather thought provoking book, really. The two guys who wrote it are twin brothers of the age 19. Or at least they were when they wrote it a couple years ago. lol. They talk about how nowadays the teenage years are mainly spent goofing off and compare it to back in the "old days" when teenager wasn't even a word in people's vocabularies. Basically, back then once you hit puberty, you were considered an adult and were given adult responsibilities. They encourage us to try and go out of our comfort zones and to do stuff besides what teens of this age are normally expected. To do big things, or sometimes just those things that in the long run will make a difference but right now just seem, well, hard.
You should check out their blog: http://www.therebelution.com/blog/
Anyway, break's over in 2 minutes, so I'd better go ahead and hit that bright orange publish button down there.........and then off to do my own hard thing-- history quiz...oh joy... lol.

Testing, Partying, & Sniped In The Face...another week in the life of Sarah!
Oi, well I cannot believe I'm actually saying this but I really am looking forward to a less hectic week this time around. This really has been a fun week though...
Monday and Tuesday I had the ITBS, which is the Iowa Test of Basic Skills...it's actually funner than it sounds, for the most part. I got to take it with my friends Taylor & Elsbeth, so that was cool. Taylor and I have taken it together every year since we were 4th graders, so we've kinda developed our own tradition of every year she brings fashion designs that she draws and then I draw them onto my cartoon characters. It's a cool thing we've got going =) Oh, Tuesday was also my bro's 13th bday.
Also on Tuesday the homeschool sports group got together as we always do, only now we're starting up on Volley Ball... isn't as fun as it was back at Camp Hope though :-/ Mainly 'cause we're using all the official rules, which include not being able to use both hands on a serve. So basically that means that I stink at serving and had horrible bruises on my hands that hurt for a couple days afterwords and I didn't even get the ball over the net half the time. Blarg.
Wednesday of course was my library volunteering & youth group...awesomeness. Before going to the library I stopped by the second hand store and picked up a couple things. One was a combat jacket for the airsoft war I went to and the other was this absolutely adorable white fuzzy sweater/coat type thing....and also a pair of pants. All this for only 6 bucks! Wooo =D Then that evening youth group, which is always mega fun. All the girls had a thing for complimenting my jewlery that night...lol. And of course I had a blast hanging with Ian & David, as always.
Nothing much happened Thursday, though my bro had to finish his ITBS. Friday I was so excited because I got to visit with some friends who live a couple hours away who I hardly ever get to see. It was so great to see Mikayla & Patrick again! Then that evening I and several other friends all went over to David's place to celebrate his 15th birthday by having Nintendo Wii tournaments... I was rather pleased with myself for beating the guys in bowling. *grins*
Saturday.... now saturday was pretty much amazing. It was my brother's birthday party, in which he invited a buncha the guys to this nearby farm where we had an Airsoft war. I got to join in the game for the first time... I'd heard a lot about it and it actually sounded like fun, and Nathaniel said that if I could somehow get a gun, I could join in. So I mentioned the possibility to Ian, who readily let me borrow his machine gun. I managed to do ok, for it being my first time... I don 't think I actually got anybody out, but I was never the first one out, and in several rounds flat out didn't get out, which was cool. In the end, I got hit in the face a couple times by a sniper riffle, once in the forehead by a mega good machine gun (I still have a mark from that one... after being hit I realized I'd forgotten to put on my safety glasses....oi. Lucky break there I guess! lol), and then hit in the leg several times. Sounds like I might get to join some of their other wars in the future too, which I'm rather excited about :-)
Then there's today-- Church, for sure. That was good and there were a couple of men visiting. One from California and the other from the Seattle area. They were both really nice. The California one is an ex-school teacher and grilled me a bit about homeschooling...but I kind of liked it. I always enjoy a good debate like that every now and then. And of course I proved him wrong in that ever-preasent arguement about homeschoolers being unsocialized and unable to talk to people well. Hehehe. After church we went home for a few minutes and headed back off for the potluck, along with David. Ever since last summer it has become somewhat of a tradition now that I bring him to all the church events. It's always a load of fun having a friend along on those things... and of course like the last potluck that was at the Croll's place, we went adventuring into the canyon near the house. I should post up the photos some time.
Anyhow...that's my week! Well with the exception of one part I guess... in between all of that I made six dozen cupcakes. Ye-eah.... 2 doz. for my bro's party and then 4 doz. for the potluck. Whew! I think I've had plenty of cupcakes for now...
So yeah, congrats on getting to the end of this rather large post :-) lol

Sunlight Rant
Don't you just love the feeling...Being able to just sit back, take a deep breath, and just feel completely contented? It's just so nice.
Presentation Night (the local home schooler's talent show) was just last night. It went fantastically! My musical act turned out great and I was completely amazed that I was able to just get up there and sing and act and not be nervous at all. Far cry from the dress rehearsal that morning where it was all I could do to keep from shaking like a leaf. I'd post up a video for you all, but I completely spaced out at the last minute and forgot to ask anybody to video it for me :-/ My choir group also did unexpectedly well... For the longest time I thought there was no way that we could do alright. We were totally unprepared and kept messing stuff up...but some how between the two last rehearsals we got in before the big night, we actually improved greatly. It was amazing. Something I can only attribute as an act of God, really. I don't know how else we could have possibly jumped from stumbling around being unprepared one week to being able to get it just fine the next. Hey, He does answer prayers. Last night was definitely good proof of that. Man. Oh, and in case anybody's interested, I did get a video of the choir... not the highest quality cause it wasn't taken with my main video cam and Ian nearly dropped it a time or two while he taped it for me, but aw well. I'm going to hopefully have it up sometime soon on my facebook.
Anyway...it's not even just how incredibly well Presentation Night came off that has me so happy. It's...well, a lot of things. It's knowing I have some issues with a certain friend fixed. It's the fun of going to a big city mall and acting like a dork in public as my brother and I snapped photos of eachother on every single little kid ride we crossed paths with. It's the joy of having the entire Twilight series at my fingertips and not having to be on a waiting list for two months per book. It's recently gaining a new friend (she's actually the one who lent me the entire twilight series) and the fun of talking and laughing with my friend Jon, the comedian whom I don't normally get to hang out with. It's looking back to last night and cracking up as I think of how rediculous Ian and I sounded as we inhaled the helium that filled the shiney star-shaped decorative baloon that he somehow got a hold of. It's waking up on this beautiful saturday morning and getting to sit in the warm sunny patch of light that is currently pouring through our big glass storm door on the front of the house. I love that door... we just got it put in a couple months ago and ever since, any sunny day we get (which is fairly often) we have our normal front door open so that we can enjoy the sunlight that warms the house through our new glass door. It's wonderful. I now see why my dog loves to sit there all the time... :-)
And then there is always that unforgettable fact that I have you, my loyal friends and readers here for me even though we live miles appart. I love you guys <3
....Well...I guess thus ends my happy little rant. lol. hmm. happy rant... those words don't normally go together it seems. But hey, I guess I always have been the different one! *grins*

"My Best Friend Gave Me The Best Advice- He Said Each Day's A Gift & Not A Given Right...."
You know, a bit ago I had some idea for a great post, but somehow I lost it, whatever it was :-/
Blarg.
I guess sometimes that happens. lol.
So yeah, it's been a crazy busy past week. Here's a rundown:
Monday- School, choir, family night
Tuesday- School, 2 hour & 45 minute hike with the homeschoolers, concert with my youth group
Wednesday- School, Sign language practice, library volunteering, youth group
Thursday- School, hanging out with Laurel, going to a warriors basket ball game all evening
Friday- Choir, the free afternoon was nice- fooled around on the compy a lot and emailed back 'n forth with my friend Ian, IM'd Bo, and txt'd Joy...then in the evening was the library volunteer's belated Christmas party (I restrained myself from saying something really mean to Paige...but only because it would proabably put a black mark on my reputation 'round there.)
Saturday- not a lot...just hung out in the morning and then in the afternoon went shopping with dad.
So that's the short version. lol.
And then Tuesday we're going to Tri-Cities for the day! That should be fun...I'm really looking forward to that. Dad has a work meeting and while he's there mom is taking my bro and I and we'll hang out at the big mall over there for a couple hours...and Nathaniel and I are planning to take some goofy photos of ourselves in various places. Should be a lot of fun =D
Also this coming Friday is the homeschool talent show here. I'm in two acts again this year. Pray that my choir group gets a ton better though...we've been working through some songs from The Sound Of Music and we've only just last week gone through the whole medley for the first time without stopping. And it's still definitely in rough draft mode. Oi. And then in my other performance I'm singing the song "Talk" by Coldplay...so that will hopefully go well. Pray for me on that one too though! ...that I don't hit an off key or something. lol.
Anyhow, that's what it's been here lately.

Moonlit Bike Rides
The night was dark, but despite the late hour traffic carried on as if it were rush hour. Why the girl decided upon this as a good time to ride her bike, I am unsure. Weather the idea be good or bad though, she headed off, unaware of the events that would soon take place.
Biking after dark was not something she normally did, in fact, it was the first time she'd ever attempted the feat. It went off as usual, with the exception of the darkness. The girl whirled down the first two hills that lead away from her house- always her favorite part of biking... speeding down those hills with a warm breeze in her face, causing her hair to fly out behind her. As she reached the bottom of the hill the headlights of the cars pierced the darkness, one by one as they drove past her. To the drivers, she was invisible. As she watched the cars passing by her, illuminating the darkness as they went, she realized that it probably would have been better had her bike had a headlight. Oh, throw away that thought of danger! She biked on down the road.
She kept on going and going, and then she noticed she'd biked past a couple of road work markers...too late to turn back now. As she sped over a speed bump, her and her bike were hurled into the air, where she realized that the road abruptly ended. Now what? She was falling through the darkness in sheer panic, as she made the observation that she was falling directly over the river. Suddenly there was a bump and she was peddling down a dock at full speed, but then at the end another speed bump threw her into the water.
It wasn't cold, strangely enough, but it was dark and deep...She paniced. But then, out of seemilngly nowhere, two figures appeard on bikes and fell into the water with her. They weren't panicking as she was though- they were there with her, holding her, calming her down. They were near the age of the girl, but older than her by several months and definitely taller. One was a guy and the other a girl. The female rescuer turned to her and asked "What the heck were you doing??" The panicked girl relaxed a little as she realized the water was only up to her chest now. Before she could answer, the guy looked towards her and said "We thought you were committing suicide! Are you okay?" The girl stood in the water, observing their moonlit reflections in the sparkling, but dark water. Then she turned to her two rescuers and explained that she didn't see the blockade where the road ended, due to the lack of headlights on her bicycle.
her bycicle.
...The biker was me, the rescuers Bo & Dom. Why? I'm not exactly sure. My subconscious does what it pleases as I sleep at night. I do wish I knew why I have been having such exceedingly odd dreams lately.
