Back to the books!

It's amazing the kind of impact books can have on people. They can convince you of an opinion, teach you, entertain...... I love reading a really good book. When I find a good one, I get REALLY into it. Almost like it's an alternate world. The characters become so real that it's like I know them. They're my friends. And I know it sounds kind of silly to you, and yet, who knows? Maybe you've been the same way...After all, I'm not eavesdropping on your brainwaves as you read or anything! (but then, who knows? If I was I probably wouldn't make you aware of this fact). I always tend to feel really sad though, right after I finish reading a really great book. It's like I've lost all contact suddenly with a good friend, and I absolutely must find something new to read immediately. Yeah, you could say I'm a total addict :-) haha.

But really, I like reading a lot, especially when I've got a really terrific author. Plus, it has that added benefit of relieving my mind of all problems of my own life temporarily. It's also a nice way to pass the time when I'm in the car or waiting for my turn at the computer and whatnot.

The fantasy of Narnia, the action & suspense of the Alex Rider series, the fun romantic comedy of "How NOT To Be Popular"...Just a few of my favorites. Now I'm starting on something new which so far looks to be of the comedy/mystery sort of thing. "King Dork"...it's one of these books where I just see the title and am like "Ok, I've GOT to see what this one is." Funny titles like that just catch me, I guess. Seriously, that is totally my favorite book name I've heard so far. But then, being that I can be somewhat of a dork, how is that not a surprise?

your reading level should be going up as you get older, not down! lol. oh well.

Well, actually according to the standardized test thing I gotta take every year, I take the reading comprehension part of the test with the ease of a college student..... but I just enjoy reading the books from the Y/A section and I like some of the stuff aimed at Jr.Highers too.

lol I could care less what other people think of what I read...just so long as I enjoy it, since I'm the one reading it :-)

That I can do :-) It's supposed to be a mystery/comedy....but I've not got to the mystery part yet...they seem to be kinda dragging out the begining :-/
actually so far I'm slightly dissapointed... but then, a lot of stuff would be a let down because last week's book was absolutely terrific.

and that book was . . . . . lol.

That one was "How NOT To Be Popular". It was this great story about this girl who's family moves all the time, and where they'd most recently moved from she had to leave her boyfriend...She was pretty heartbroken. So when they got to Austin TX, she made up her mind that so she wouldn't feel such a sense of loss when her family moved again, she'd try and be the weirdest person in the entire school so that people wouldn't want to be friends with her and she'd not get any relationships that she'd have to be sad about when she moves....only her plan ends up backfiring. It was awesome, like a romantic comedy sort of book. I love those.

I'm reading the Pendragon series. I love books. For me its like going to another world. I see whats happening. Not like I can look around and "look there is Frodo climbing Mount Doom!" Its more like I can imagine whats happening. I love books and admire really good writers. I think the best writers are the writers that can make you laugh and cry in the same book.

the pendragon were interesting, but it never seemed to end, so i got bored fast. lol.

Hmm I've never heard of it. And now that I at last got my hands on a copy of Twilight, I don't think I'll bother finishing reading King Dork.... it turned out to not be that great. They threw in a lot of cuss words and pretty crude humor and stuff 'n it just didn't keep my interest as well as some books. Guess ya win some ya loose some. But Twilight is great!

I have it on hold - I'll probably get it in a year or so. you know: two billon other holds.
it doesn't bug me though. not to offend anyone, but I think this crazy obsession so many have with Twilight, Hannah Montana, High School Musical, etc. is terribly fake and superficial. let's all waste our time! yeah....

but that could easily be turned around to anyone's obsession (LotR, anyone?) so I don't have a right to complain about that I guess.

lol verya, i have a message for you. it's from the world. it says. WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT.
did you get all that? maybe i should repeat it . . . *grins*. i think i've said enough though.

I know, I know. it's just annoying.

lol though i have to confess, i'm no better then the rest of them. instead of twilight, hannah montana, etc, i have werewolf (NOT THE TWILIGHT KIND), centuar, minatore, vampire hunter, vampires, lothlorien, a bloody rampage of missunderstood revenge, etc.

so really, i am no one to point fingers. lol.

Wow. That was...interesting....lol. Your obsessions sound scary, Bo! Or at least the last one if nothing else.

And I wouldn't say I'm "obsessed" with Twilight. But I do thing it's a really well written and entertaining story.

I guess my obsession would be email/IM/Facebook.

SECONDED.
