My excuse for taking an hour long nap in the middle of a school morning.

I'd almost forgotten how nice it was in the early mornings! I ended up unintentionally waking up at 5 in the morning today...darn cold. I woke up a lot last night. I'm to the stage of it where you are begining to die from lack of oxygen :-P blarg. So I awoke from my dreams cause I couldn't breathe. Again. I also woke up at 1, 3, and 4. I was getting sick of it by now so I decided to get up and take a beynodryl...benidrill...benodryl? haha I duno. Whatever those pink pills are that usually unclogg my nose.

As I walk through the kitchen I cast a glance out the back door... just eeny bit lighter than nighttime. Then a thought struck me: the last time I was up early enough to see the light like this was back last summer at Camp Hope as Jacob & I hiked up the mountain that towers above clover field. Then as I walked back upstairs and glanced once more out my window, I began to question myself... what was so bad about early mornings anyway? Why couln't I always wake up and enjoy them? They're so peaceful and quiet... I decided not to go back to bed. Instead I lean up against my wall with my arms and chin resting in my windowsil and looked out over the neighborhood from my second story winodw as the light increases ever so slightly. Eventually I walk over a couple of feet and decide to open up my window (and in doing so knock a few things over and hope I don't wake anybody up. lol). The air feels soooooo good. Not an icy wind, but not hot or even warm. Just cool. Cool fresh air sweetened by the scent of the blooming spring trees and filled with the soun of hundreds of birts. It's amazing how energetic they are in the mornings.

After sitting at the window enjoying the view and fresh air and pondering events of my week (and reminicing of early mornings of camp), I figured since I'm pretty wide awake, I would work on a drawing. I recently decided to take up drawing fantasy creatures for a while. I grab my clip board and look around for a blank piece of paper...then realize I have no idea where my pencil is. Sure, there are others sitting around on my desk, but I want my special one. My awesome green mechanical pencil that I always use for art. Luckily it doesn't take as horribly long to find as I'd feared. So just as I'm about to plop down on my bed and start my work, I happen to see out my window again and notice this one house on the hill has this crazy bright orange glow comming off their windows. Which can only mean one thing. So I race to the other end of my room (thankfully without tripping and making any sort of loud noise) and open the blinds on my other window that looks off from the side of my house. Just as I'd hoped- a lovely golden band of light is comming up over the hills. Unfortunately most of the pretty sunrise is blocked by a very large, very leafy tree that is obstructing my veiw perfectly. Darn. I lean over a bit farther so I can partially see around it... and then realize how incredibly long it's been since I'd been over there with a duster. Or even opened up the blinds on that end of the room, for that matter. My arm becomes partly covered with a buncha cobwebs....eww.

Now after that little destraction (and a few photographs, of course!), I'm off working on my centaur picture.

The Secret Of The Paths

It's wonderful... the feeling you get zooming down a hill on a sunny day. A cool breeze blowing in your face and swirling around your entire body as you fly.

I finally got my bike tires repaired. AT LAST! The bike shop got 'em all fixed up and puncture proofed surprisingly fast. So here I am, flying down the hill from my house on the way to the park, with orders to be back home by five... *checks watch* so I've got like 40 minutes. Fairly short for a bike trip, but aw well. I take what I can get.

Once at the bottom of the hill, the few only slightly stressful seconds of my ride appear before me in form of the semi-busy street that I must cross to get to the park entrance. Actually, it's not that bad, and today it's not really that crowded. Or maybe its just cause now I have in mind what a real busy street is like after my vacation to Seattle. I duno. After watching one car pass by, I speed out into the middle of the road and in no time cross over into the entrance of Swallows Nest Park. Why they named it after that particular bird, I have never figured out. The whole place is overrun with Canadian geese. But I guess Swallows Nest sounds nicer that Canadian Goose park....lol.

The air here is cooler than up on my hill and as I ride along the trail that follows the river, I'm suddenly glad I decided to wear a sweater. While the air is still warm, there is a definite cool breeze coming off the river. It feels nice though. As I ride on down the oh so familiar trail, I wonder what I want to do... I haven't been here in months...like since November. I considered going on the swings, I always loved that. But the park is just so busy. But hey, what can ya expect? It's one of the first few truly nice weekends we've had in quite some time. Weather like this tends to bring out a lot of young families and picknickers. So I bypass the swings. The water is low enoguh, I could go onto my island. Well, not really my island. But I like to call it that, and when I'm down on a sunny weekday afternoon while school is in session, nobody is there and it really kind of is my island. Today though it looks quite likely I'd run into company on my favorite landing spot, so I ride on, looking for a spot... somewhere I can claim for me for the time being.

*sigh* I do sound anit-social, don't I?

Finally, several yards down the trail from one of the two main beaches, I find it. The perfect spot. A tiny little sandy patch, hidden behind a tree with a skiny, barely visible path leading down to it. The sort of place easily overlooked by most people. A miniature beach laid out just for me... only about ten feet wide with soft tan sand and completely unpopulated.

I couldn't imagine anything better at the time... sitting there with the sun gently warming my back and a slight cool breeze blowing in my face as I look out at the river, which is merely a foot away from me. Of course, I snap a few photos :-) I should post them some time maybe.

Time flies in my secret place... before long I look down just to see that my watch is informing me it's nearly 4:45. Dang. I really should start heading back for home I suppose. So I get up and dust the sand off my stuff and I and pick up my bike and head off down the trail again. All too soon I've made it back accross the street where the infamous death hill looms over me like an intimidatingly huge foe I can never seem to get away from. Well, there's no avoiding it. Sure, I could go back up the same, slighly less steep hill I got down here by, but despite it's appearence to be easier, it's not. Its just a little less steep than Death Hill, but it's a lot longer, and either path I take I'll be pushing my bike. So I head up the torturously steep hill. As I near the first bend I look down and realize again what a spectacular view there is from here. It's funny how something that can seem so horrible can be so good at the same time... anybody at the bottom looking at the two hills would automatically choose the one that looks less steep. I made that very mistake the first time I went biking down here. I took what looked to be the easy way...but in the end, it's a log longer of a way to go with more traffic and minus the awesome view. Then there's the oh so intimidating Death Hill. It looks horrible. Skinier and steeper by far, but it's actually better. An amazing birds-eye view of the park and it's actually shorter! Like the paths in life really. The wide road and the narrow. In the end, the least likely choice is really the better one.

Waving So-long I'm moving on//The road before me is everchanging...

---february 29 1:00pm---

Well, I didn't think. it'd happen, but we got to go to the museum of Science-Fiction and the Experience Music Project this morning, That was cool. the Sci-fi museum was so amazing. The whole place was themed a to be like a hitech space ship. It also has these uberly cool 3D windows where it showed all sorts of famous space craft from Star Trek and Star wars and other movies/TV shows of the sort. Next to it there were touch screen computers that told you about each ship and showed video clips from the programs each was from. There were also lots of- costumes arcs sci-fi weapons... Ooh, and robots! There was Robbie The Robot. And this other one too... forgot what it was from though. Hmm. Aw well. There was also R2D2. Oh, and there was also the robot from the Terminator too. Kinda scary...LOL! Wouldn't wanna see that jump out of my closet at night! Or in the daytime, for that matter. Then if you go to the lower level, there is this big area that looks like the insides of a space ship, which is pretty amazing. The floor even vibrates every now and then and there are occasional engine sounds. So cool!! Then also in that space ship room there is what appears to be a window and there are all these 3D space ships from different TV shows & movies flying around. Below that window are these little screens with buttons and you can select one of the ships that are flying around and then the little screen will show clips from the respective movie or tv program and tell you about the ship. I think that was probly my fave part of the Sci-Fi museam =) That and the afforementioned robots.

Up another staircase from the space ship room is the Experience Music Project. That is also pretty amazing... I never did decide which I liked more between it and the Sci-Fi museum. in the main entrance to it there is this HUGE tornado-shaped tower made of guitars, drums, a cello, some more guitars....It was really neat!! It was also the only place they'd let you take pictures, which kinda stank (yeah, you know me...shudder bug!), but hey, at least you were allowed a photo of SOMETHING. They have a lot of stuff about the history of music (mostly rock) in that place...one of my fave things was this whole room that was dedicated to guitars. It was amazing *grins* can ya tell I love guitars!? hehe :) It was really neat seeing all the different variations of guitars over the years. There was even a steel guitar! It never really made it big though cause apparently the heat from the stage lights would make the metal expand during shows and then the guitar would go out of tune....not so great.

Another thing that is pretty cool is this room where you can be on stage and actually see what its like to be the person on stage at a rock concert- complete with lights and a whole array of digital fans (or so I was informed by a sign). It's a really cool idea! They record you on video and take your picture too and then afterwords you can buy a poster of you being a rocker or a DVD of the performance. I didn't do it though cause it was kinda expensive (10 bucks for a poster or 20-something for the DVD). And let's face it- I'm not THAT great...yet. lol but I am working on my musical abilities. Taking choir and working at guitar.

The other favorite room of mine at the EMP was where they had all of these soundproof glass rooms you could go into and play the instruments. There were little computer screens by each to show you how to play simple tunes on them...that was cool! I tried out a base guitar and fooled around with this big funny thing that made all these drum sounds =) they even had a thing set up where you could use electric guitar foot pedals! I like the Wah-wah pedal- it's pretty sweet... now I wanna get one for my guitar...

----5:00 pm---

We just got back from the Space Needle-- Three words: THAT.WAS.AWESOME!!!!!!!! I can now say I've "lived the view", as it says on the website. The weather was absolutely perfect, too! It couldn't possibly have been better =D And it wasn't as crowded as I'd feared, either. So not only did I get some awesome photos, but Nathaniel and I also got to film a short action movie up there too! Who could possibly ask for a cooler movie setting than that?? I think that worked out pretty good. While we were up there, Nathaniel got freaked out by some dudes in turbans who looked like potential terrorists....lol. But nothing happend, so that's good.

I should post the video of the ride up some time.... it's kinda cool =) funny thing is that the elevator dude clames that it's a ten second ride up, but when I watched the video back, I checked the time of it and it was actually like 40 seconds o_0 lol, must be some sort of mental trick they do for people who are affraid of heights or elevator rides to make them think they're not on it that long XD

-----10:00 pm----

I"ve not felt all too grand this evening...blarg. The new nextdoor neighbors in the adjoining room have been playing loud music and smoking something weird that smells like a musty old basement. Eeeww. I felt pretty bad earlier...but then I hung out downstairs at the computers fro like half an hour. That was great. Talked to Anna and she's hoping to try and see me tomorrow when we go down to the museum of flight =) Also talked to Bo too, which is always fun. I was greeted with "you're alive!" LOL. Well, after our first introduction to Seattle's drivers I'm lucky to be. Well, everybody's getting ready for bed, so I better quit blogging on my pocket pc... *rubs cramping hand*

*yawn*

Good night!

"We're falling apart to half time..."

---february 28 9:30 am---

Man they do quite the breakfasts here! I mean, I knew there was gonna be a breakfast buffet, but I figured it'd just be a few bagels and some cold cereal like at Super 8. Sure, there's that too here, but there's also sausage, eggs, waffles, some other random pastries, yogurt... fruits... some other stuff too,I think, but I forget what... Haha oh well.

---12:30 am---
Well originally we were gonna go to Pike's Place market this
morning, but it was pouring. So we went to the Aquarium now instead of doing it in the afternoon. We just left and the entrance line is GINORMOUS! yikes. And I thought it was crowded When we were in! This is the first time since I was 6. I coulda done with like 95% of the small children subtracted from the scene, but otherwise it was cool. I got an adorable photo of some sleeping otters. They were soooo cute! Just wanna hug 'em! Well, if it wasn't that they're cold and wet...LOL.

---8:30 pm---

Whew, I'm tired! After tie Aquarium we went to Pike's Place since it was close and not raining too hard. That and hey, might as well make the most of the 16 bucks we had to pay for parking. I cant believe these big cities can charge so much for parking! Gosh. What a rip off! That's something nice about Clarkston. Parking is free. Every Where. Yeah. Anywho, Pike's Place is amazing! My fave place here, so far (ok, its only the 2nd place I've been. Maybe a bit soon to make that judgment, I guess). It's HUGE! There are so many people and so much to see. so many cultures and colors. I love the street musicians. And there is so much cool stuff to photograph! I wish we had time to go back. While we were there we ate at Pike's Diner. The food was terrific! I had a plate of BIG popcorn shrimp and fries. Yummy! Also got to talk to an artist there who sold us on some professional colored pencils for me. Really nice guy. He gave me his card and told me to email him the link to my art website. After pike's Place we were gonna go to a robotics contest but when we got to Key Arena it had finished =(
Just as well though, cause it turns out they don't allow cameras in there. Of course being the photomaniac I am, I was carrying 2- my picture cam as well as my video cam. Sure wouldn't do good to have those confiscated! So since we had some free time and it was on the way back to the hotel, we walked over to check out the gift shop at the Space Needle. Man that thing is big! It's so cool. I cant believe we're going up tomorrow! Sweet. While we were there we ran into some very unexpected people- my cousin David and his wife Holly! Wow. So that was fun. We stopped and talked to them for a bit, then we decided after walking like all day that we would head back to the hotel. So with my Starbucks caramel machiotto in hand, I paid for my Space Needle keyring and we left. (hey, can't go to the city of coffee without stopping by starbucks! *grin*)

Anyway, after Writing this off 'n on while watching kid's choice awards on Nickelodeon, it is now 10:10 and we're going to bed.

Write more tomorrow!

Spring Vacation, Day 1

--February 27, 9:10 am---

Well we're off on our spring break trip to Seattle. Just hit the road actually. so here comes the blow-by-blow of my biggest and most likely best vacation ever!

Amazingly I was the first person out of of bed this morning. That doesnt happen all too often. I learned that the sun doesnt start coming up this time of year 'till almost 7am. What time was I up? 6. But it gave me time to shower, add a couple things to my pocket pc, and check my e-mail (nothing new... No surprise though. I didn't figure anyone would write me between 9pm and 7am. Lol.)

Since I got every thing done early I had lots of spare time to screw around. So I played on our Wii a little while we waited for dad get back from taking the dog to get boarded. Once he got back, we loaded our last few items in the car, mom asked us who knows how many times if we had to use the bathroom... yeah. Hana. And where does that leave me now? On a country road in the middle of nowhere among the brown hills of Eastern Washington. Who ever nicknamed us the evergreen state must have lived on the other side.

---11:00 am---

well we're back in the car again after a short pitstop in waitsberg at gma and gpa's. Mom's got teeny-weeny bladder syndrome and went about 3 times in an hour and a half. Whoa. So now as things are I've taken 'bout 6 photos, 2 Videos and we've made 4 side stops (all rather short). I'm now gonna grab a snack and rock out to more Kevin Rudolf songs *grins*
Later!

---2:46 pm---

After Several hours of brown hills and tumble weeds, we've at last
crossed over to the green part of the ever green state. Right now we're crossing the cascades... It's snowy here...Pretty! And after our nice sunny drive it's all cloudy. hmm... Welcome to western Washington, I guess:

--4:00 pm---
I'm loving these cascades! We stopped for a bathroom break at a ski place... Some mighty large snow drifts there. It's sooo pretty up here with all the green and snow! I think we should be getting close to Seattle now.. within an hour or so maybe? man road trips are awesome. so is the hand writing recognization feature on my pocket PC (Which I've been using this whole trip to make my blog updates) sure beats hunt 'n peck typing with the on- screen key board.

---6:45 pm---

we are now in seattle!!! This place is pretty much amazing. The buildings are all tall and shiny and tunnels seem to be a normal occurence. This is just... Wow. I can Sure tell I'm not in Clarkston any more! Yes, I am aware that I sound like a total hick XD
As Bo informed me on chat last night, I need to get out more- LOL!

Within our first 15 minutes here we coulda died (or been badly injured). As we were trying to find our hotel some dude ran a red lignt and very nearly hit us. I if dad handn't put the petal to the metal just in time, we'd have been hit - and right Where I was sitting! Wow. God was sure looking out for me on that one!

---9:40 pm---

Well we're just about to turn in for the night. Mom is on the other end of the room pumping the air mattress. Since my bro and I are both teens she decided it's rather inappropriate to have us share a bed, so we gotta take turns sleeping on the floor. Any way, not much action this evening. We found out that the hotel has computers and internet in the lobby, so that's cool. I can email and facebook you guys while I'm here!
