This is the Sound of Settling...

Ok to start off.... I'm just curious... Do I still even have readers any more? Just wondering... cause it seems like I'm lucky to even have 1 comment any more on stuff :-/

-----------------------------------------------------

And with that being said, I shall move on.
-----------------------------------------------------

So, wow. This has been quite a Christmastime here! Its been a great December. A little crazy, too. Crazy as in working like mad to send Christmas cards, and still not getting to everybody you had hoped to send to, but feeling good about the ones you managed to do in time. Crazy as in having loads of parties to go to with friends. Crazy as in having 2 guys tell you they like you within the course of 3 weeks. Crazy as in it suddenly being so close to the year TWENTY-TEN :-o !! .... and more. But looking back, I most definitely must say its a good kind of crazy.

Christmas was great. Oh, and Christmas Eve, Eve as well. haha my parents decided to save space in the car, they would let us all open all but one present the night before Christmas eve so that we would have less stuff to pack to gma & gpa's the next day. Honestly I very much approve of this idea, because as it turns out, one of my gifts happened to be a video MP3 player, so it gave me just enough time to load some music/pictures onto it before we left :) yay! So then the next day (Christmas Eve, of course) we went to my grandparent's house (like we do every year). That evening we opened gifts with my gparents, family, and aunt + uncle. Sweet! It was great. And we all got some good laughs when Grandma recieved a Snuggie but put it on backwards XD ...honestly I thought it looked kinda cool that way. It was like this awesome pink cape-- with sleeves! But apparently you put it on with the covering on front and its like a long sleeve hospital gown without a way to fasten it in the back. *shrugs* really it could go both ways.

Honestly it would take too big of a post to write up the entire weekend at my grandparent's place. But I'll just list some random fave memories:

My cousin David's wife Holly playing Peanuts music on the piano

Big Christmas dinner (it's like Thanksgiving!)

Discussing everyone's past experiences or experiences of others of beheading chickens. While we all ate lemon merangue pie (uh no idea how we got on that topic...).

Playing (and winning!) my first ever game of Bunco (FUN!)

Walking around the house in the dark at 4:00 AM in the dark with a blanket over my head carring mom's mini netbook around trying to get access to wifi... and finally succeeding, after going back to where I had started, no less =P

Feeling smart in my sunday school class at my grandparents church. I was shocked how juvenile the teen class seemed.

Playing with the McDonald's Drive Thru kitchen playset at my aunt + uncle's place...hehe! They've had that thing for like 20 years! Started for my cousins when they were kids. Then they had it out for me when I was a little kid, and I hadn't seen it in ages...but then they got it out again for my cousin's kids. So when they went to do something else I took over the kitchen *big grin* it was SO fun. Good times.

And last but not least (in fact honestly it was the most memorable part of the whole weekend)... a certain evening IM conversation with a good friend of mine, that made me feel sad for a time but ended with us both being really happy :-)

....Yeah, there have been loads of ups. And some downs too...like when my 4 year old cousin barfed all over right before everyone left after Christmas dinner =P and not sleeping good for 4 nights in a row. But oh well. All things considered, its really been one of the best Christmases ever!

...and on a side note, HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVE!!!!!

I'll Send Those Christmas Cards or Die Trying!

Funny... this wouldn't have been my number one thought of what I would be doing in my day. In fact, generally I try to avoid being out in these below-freezing temperatures as much as possible (unless of course it's snowed good or there's an Ultimate Frisbee game...cause us Frisbee players are diehards like that, lol). Yet here I am, out in the midst of it all, tearing down the sidewalk with the fog from my breath blowing back in my face.

The sun is setting, it's less than 18 degrees outside...yeah. It's not a very long run, only a couple blocks and back, but within the first two minutes I think I started loosing feeling in my fingertips =P I don't want to think what this would be like without my fuzzy earmuffs and gloves. Oi. Scaree. Yet despite the cold... its strangely fun. People's Christmas lights are just starting to turn on, and between that and the freezing breeze blowing in my face as I run, I can't help but smile. It feels like I should be playing out a scene from some kind of holiday movie, and if it wasn't that I was already getting out of breath due to temperatures, I would totally start singing Sleigh Ride or something of the sort right about now :-)

Nearly to the post office, I turn the corner and am greeted by one of my favorite sights that I forgot I might see. Vernon Park, in all it's lighted glory! They seem to add some sort of new little piece to the light display there every year, and it's such fun. And I'm still wondering where the heck the town bought a whole light up CASTLE. It has to be custom made cause I've never seen anything like it anywhere else. Tearing myself from this sudden and beautiful destraction, I decide to save a little time but part with some possible warmth by going down the alley where the drive through drop boxes are, instead of going inside. Hey, there's no cars coming, so I'm safe. I dash down and throw in my mail. Mission complete.

Now with my nose running, legs stinging from the cold, and a smile on my face, I shall see how fast I can run back to the welcoming heat, towering bookshelves, and wonderful high-speed broadband internet of the local library.

This is my December, this is my time of the year...This is my December, everything's so clear...

Snack Food Tales...figures I'd think of a title like this. I should eat some breakfast.

Sure he's 15 and she's 16
But their birthdays are coming soon
They're the sorta friends who'd
Spend all night cracking jokes beneath the moon
Together they are, most every week
He seems to be in love
She's not sure what to think of that
Was he sent to her from above?
The weeks they pass, the years go by
He'll greet her with a hug
As she smiles and tells him "hi"
Cause he's her friend and she's his too
She'll split her package of skittles
As he lets her sip his mountain dew
He loves the girl,
But she's so confused on how to feel
Does she love him too,
Are they meant to be for real?
Perhaps one day she'll see
But only God knows when
With his arm around her shoulder
He stands with hope, 'till such a day as then

A mid-school morning break... *grin*

Wow. I can't believe the Christmas season is in full swing again now... hardly seems like a year. Guess I know now what the Bible meant in that verse that said "life is but a breath and we are as vapors"...hum. But I forget the reference. But you know what I mean, right?

Thanksgiving last week was pretty cool. A wee bit strange, but cool. It's weird not being in the same houses I've gone to every year for as long as I can remember. Oh well, its nice that my aunt & uncle and my grandparents live in town now (they both moved to Walla Walla recently- whereas before they lived about 15 minutes appart both in tiny little towns that had nothing but dinky little grochery stores and you could walk from one end to the other without getting real tired...lol). So this year it was my family & I, my grandparents, my aunt & uncle, my cousin Paul & his wife Kristin, and P & K's two little kids (2 year old Jenna & 7 month year old Joanna). Wasn't sure at first how that'd all be since my last experience with Jenna a year ago nearly drove me insane, but it was all good. Most of the time she was down for a nap anyway *grin*. And her little sister Joanna I'd never seen before so I had no idea what to expect from her. I was kinda assuming the worst though, just because my thought was "Well, she's related to Jenna. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if she's just as screamy and ill-tempered". But fortunately, siblings can be very different- Joanna turned out to be absolutely the sweetest baby I've ever met :-) Super cute, uberly happy...oooh yeah. And she only really cried once-- and that was with quite good reasoning; she fell on her face. Ouch. But anywho, all in all it was a pretty good Thanksgiving! I even got to experience shopping on Black Friday for the first time!! Ha, I know, somewhat lame, right? I'm 16 and I've never been to a black friday sale 'till now. What can I say? That's what happens when in the past you've always spent your Thanksgiving in puny little towns. Black Friday at Walmart kinda reminds me of trying to go to the Seattle Aquarium during the whole city's spring break, only with adults crowding you on all sides instead of waist-high kids. Turned out the mp3 player I went to get was sold out though... ah well. So I'm just gonna wait and buy it after my birthday next month after I get a nice collection of Walmart gift cards. (Cause my gparents & aunt + uncle for the past 2 years have both given me $25 gift cards to there, so I'm hoping the tradition will continue so I can get my Sansa Fusion or Phillips Go...go...something or other. ha I forget what it was called.)

So, how was YOUR Thanksgiving?

Oh yeah, and on a side note, if you go on my profile I have a new blog. Potential Ignition. Which is created for the purpose of advertising my photography and artwork online (because I've read that it is easier to get blogs to the top of google's search pages than websites, cause they're more often updated). So I'm hoping maybe random people on the internet will see and maybe give me projects or want to display my stuff :-) We'll see how that all goes. Soooo if you guys know anyone who wants photography, artwork, or anything of the sort, put in a good word for me perhaps? I gotta get my name out there some how. lol. But that blog is the reason this one is now on private- I didn't want random strangers seeing that one and then going to my profile and clicking into this one and stalking me =P
